Interactive: Real applications for wearable and mixed reality technologies

Description:

Ravensbourne

  • Wearable Technologies: The European Research project on Wearable Experience for Knowledge Intensive Training (WEKIT) Ravensbourne is leading 13 partners representing academia and industry from six countries in Europe in the development of a unique learning technology platform and methodology to bring learning content and technical documentation to life via task-sensitive Augmented Reality … making industrial training more engaging, affordable and effective.
  • WebVR: is an early-stage open standard aiming to make it possible to experience ‘added value’ VR in your browser. Our goal is to make it easier for everyone to get into VR experiences, no matter what viewing device you are using.
  • Holoportal: Ravensbourne and DoubleMe, a company which provides mixed reality holographic experiences, have launched HoloPortal™, the UK’s first facility which captures still or moving objects and generates 3D virtual doubles.  This Workshop will show you how to put your own digital persona into virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR) worlds.

British Aerospace

  • Bone Conduction Devices:   BAE will present a patented system they have developed whereby audio waves are sent through the bones of the skull directly to the cochlea (bypassing the ear drum), connecting sound directly to the brain. The technology can be used in a range of environments such as VR headsets, hearing aids  or noisy environments where earplugs are needed.
